The Turning Point in My Life
The photo does not seem to be a beautiful one. However, the photo hides a story about my dad and me. And this story has made my life totally different.
When I was little, my dad always got home late for the sake of earning money to support our family expenses. I held an aloof relationship with my dad. Or I can say, our whole family didn't feel close to my father. We seldom talked with each other. I felt afraid of him, because he was just like a commander in troops. Though he seldom stayed at home, he controlled my life decisions. All I could do is listen to his suggestions. Every time my family and I could not pluck up our courage to give him advice or our thoughts. Because of the gaps between my family and my dad, we couldn't stand on the same side and there were more and more conflicts. I didn't like the way we got along, and it seemed that the relationship will be kept cold like this forever. Until two years ago, I went out with him, accompanying him to deliver the goods to his clients, our relationship has reversed.
That day, we chatted a lot. We discussed different kinds of topics and I opened my mind to talk with him like I did to my friends. It was really hard for me, but I was glad that I made the first step. I realized that he was a gentle man actually and all he did was to make us improve to become a better person. He was far-sighted and knowledgeable. He was just a father who needs family's care, just like other fathers did. He was so humorous that his words could help me think positively towards my life. It was the first time I felt so close to my dad. I didn't even know how kind he was. In order to capture the moments of that day, I took this picture. It was taken when I was awaiting my father talking with his clients in the store. I shot the photo in my dad's car in Kaohsiung county. It was a lovely day with a lovely weather. I looked out, and I was thinking about how grateful I was to have a dad that helped me a lot in my life.
After that day, our relationship has become more intimate. We are just like friends now, and we will share everything that happened in our daily lives every day. And because of the change of our relationship, our family becomes close and happy now. I would like to see this as the turning point in my life, because I will seek out suggestions and solutions from my dad every time I face difficulties, and all of his advice serves me well and my life become smoothly. If I hadn't hung out with him that day, I would not have the chance to know my father well. And I appreciate the chance, because it made me realize I have such a great father that I have been yearning for.
