In-class Exercise- Inspiring Graffiti


  1. When was this photo taken? During the author's first year at university in Manchester
  2. Who took the photo? Lori Smith
  3. Where was this photo taken? Round the corner from the author's halls of residence
  4. Why was this photo taken? The author found it very inspiring.
  5. Why is this photo meaningful for the writer? The classy graffiti can make people think, and hope the words can somehow change some people's attitude.
  6. What is the story behind this photo? The discovery of the unfair situations that gay persons encounter. 
  7. Who are the characters in the story? The author and the author's friends.
  8. Where is the setting? Manchester, the author's residence.
  9. What are the series of Events? Move to Manchester for studying, heard the bad experiences from friends, not understand why people treat homosexuals differently, see the inspiring painting from the author's halls of residence.
  10. What is the 'tension' generated in the story? When the author sat alone in the room wondering whether she would make new friends was one of the few times she felt scare in the city.
  11. What is the climax in the story? The author realized that the place she lived was a mere stone’s throw from the ‘gay village’. 
  12. What is the resolution? To arouse people's mind of respecting others and hope the world will be a better place.
  13. What is the message behind the story? To express people's discrimination and stereotype towards homosexuals should be changed.
